Russian to get modded

As I have mentioned before in a previous post (Fake Russian Microphones, Oh My!) I have a pair of Oktava 319 large diaphram condensers.

I have corresponded with Michael Joly about getting these modified.  Michael does some modifications to the microphones electronics and the actual body of the microphone.  He has run some test and provided audio samples.

Wow. I took a listen to the samples.  All of a sudden the microphones are all pretty and sparkle on acoustic guitars.  And by sparkle I mean their is a definite boost  in the frequency range around 16kHz.  Their still seems to be that mid / lower frequency ’warmth’ / magic that I like about the microphone but all of a sudden the mic is more open or hi-fi.

OK……  this gets bumped to second on my list (after new amp cards for my Otari MX-70) of things to buy for the studio.
